Events open to all, bringing together researchers, students, water professionals and the general public.

Registration is free and mandatory.

Programme

Mon 16.03

Urban Walk "Rain trees, science, city and climate in action" // 9h30 - 11h30

Come and discover rain trees alongside researchers who study them in Lyon and Melbourne (Australia). These rainwater management structures allow water to infiltrate, be stored and released, but their role does not stop there, as they also contribute to the microclimate and urban biodiversity. These devices are at the heart of exciting multidisciplinary research to understand how they work and their impact.

With: Jérémie Bonneau (DEEP), Tim Fletcher (University of Melbourne), Ilane Cherif (CETHIL, LEHNA) and Frédéric Cherqui (DEEP)
Rue Vauban, 69006 Lyon

Webinar "A cross-disciplinary look at AI for water sciences (1/2): AI and remote sensing at the service of rivers" // 14h - 15h

In a set of two webinars, students from the Integrated Watershed Sciences Master's programme invite you to explore how artificial intelligence is transforming research approaches in water sciences.

The first webinar explores the combined use of AI and remote sensing to advance our knowledge of rivers, highlighting both new opportunities and persistent blind spots in research..

  • Simone Bizzi (University of Padua, Italy) - Monitoring the geomorphological dynamics of rivers
  • Leo Helling (ENS de Lyon, France) - Reuse of global land cover models through deep learning to map water occurrence on a global scale
  • Isabelle Brichetto (Politechnico di Torino, Italy) - Using remote sensing and AI to monitor intermittent rivers

Led by students from the Master's programme in Integrated Watershed Sciences
Webinar in English and in French with live translation

Tue 17.03

H2O'Lyon Annual Meeting // 9h30 - 17h

A full day dedicated to scientific and training activities of the Graduate School H2O'Lyon, aimed at fostering idea exchange and shaping the future.
For scientists, teachers, students and all those involved in the world of water

Face-to-face event at Ecole des Mines de Saint-Etienne, Espace Fauriel
Programme & registration

Wed 18.03

Webinar "Networking – cross-sector, cross-university, cross-disciplinary: building communities that transform practices" // 11h - 12h

We invite you to explore behind the scenes of initiatives that are transforming research and action practices: how to ‘network’, what ‘breaking down barriers between disciplines’ entails, and how these alliances are transforming both academia and society.
At the heart of the discussions are two formative experiences in Quebec: the Réseau Inondations Intersectoriel du Québec (RIISQ) and the Groupe de Recherche Interuniversitaire en Limnologie (GRIL)

With Maxime Boivin (Université du Québec à Chicoutimi) and Pascal Biron (Université de Concordia)
An international discussion co-hosted by Marie Nadisic (H2O'Lyon) and Elodie Brelot (Graie) in the frame of the network Interface

Webinar in French

Webinar "A cross-disciplinary look at AI for water sciences (2/2): Using AI to model, understand and sustainably manage water" // 14h - 15h

In a set of two webinars, students from the Integrated Watershed Sciences Master's programme invite you to explore how artificial intelligence is transforming research approaches in water sciences.
This second webinar focuses on tools for sustainable water and risk management and for greater resilience in the face of global change.
  • Heidi Kreibich (Helmotz Centre for Geosciences, Germany) - Machine learning to understand and model flood damage
  • Zoran Kapelan (TU Delft, Netherlands) - AI-based methods for smart water management systems
  • Andrea Cominola (TU Berlin, Germany) - AI-based behavioural modelling to support resilience to climate change
Led by students from the Master's programme in Integrated Watershed Sciences
Webinar in English and in French with live translation

Je 19.03

Webinar "River sediment extraction: can it be managed in a context of widespread urbanization?" // 16h - 18h

An international webinar as part of the ANR GloUrb project and the LabEx IMU
With Céline Duwig (IRD, France), Vikrant Jain (IITGN, India), Santiago Yepez (Universidad de Concepcion, Chile), Gabrielle Melun (OFB, France) et Baptiste Potet (EPIDOR, France)
