Research topics
Yves Prairie is a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). He has held the UNESCO Chair in Global Environmental Change since 2011, and his research focuses on various aspects of the biogeochemical carbon cycle in freshwater aquatic ecosystems. He is a founding member of the GRIL research centre, a research consortium of all Quebec universities working in lake and river ecology, of which he was director for 9 years. He was also President of the International Society of Limnology from 2013 to 2019.
