Supported Projects

The Graduate School H2O'Lyon support actions that promote interdisciplinarity, partnerships with professionals, and link between research and training :
The following projects on integrated watershed sciences have been called for their spirit of innovation and their commitment to excellence.

Conferences

► Conférence Ville perméable // 3 nov 2020

This conference is in French.
The objectives of the conference are to draw inspiration from the strategies and solutions developed in France and Quebec; to share our cultures of urban water management, but also to mobilise the different actors, public and private, and users, and the different scientific disciplines,to make practices evolve in the face of the challenges of a resilient city.

These times of conferences and exchanges aim to address the issue of urban water management in the face of the emerging challenges of urban development, and in particular :
  • Urban renewal, resilience and the construction of the city on the city, in constrained contexts ;
  • Biodiversity in the city, the control of this biodiversity and the valorisation of the services provided by water in the city.
They will enable the sharing of prospective reflections, dynamics of animation, research results and feedback on the keys and levers mobilised for an effective change in practices:
  • Transversal, multidisciplinary and multi-actor approaches, both in the elaboration of strategies, in the mobilisation of actors and in the implementation of operations;
  • Support for change based on this chain of varied actors, some of whom are involved in water management in spite of themselves.
EUR H2O'Lyon is supporting this summer school by financing the registration of students.

► 11ème Conférence sur les Effluents Non Domestiques // Webinaire 25-26 juin 2020

This conference is in French.
Among the many missions of sewerage network managers, the control of non-domestic wastewater discharges has become essential. As a result, local authorities must adapt, organise and develop tools to manage the collection and treatment of effluent from the establishments concerned. The objective is to achieve good control of their sanitation systems and of pollution at source, including in connection with rainwater, in terms of both conventional pollutants and micropollutants, with a view to preserving the environment.

Three particular orientations have been adopted this year :

  • Discharge of non-domestic effluents to the rainwater network
  • Thematic news from the Rhône-Mediterranean-Corsica basin: Presentation of the launch of sectoral operations and feedback from the RSDE survey
  • Thematic news from the Loire-Brittany basin
This event has the  H2O'Lyon certification.

► 13th International Symposium on Ecohydraulics 2020 / Postponed to 23-24 Nov 2020

The 13th ISE 2020 International Conference is jointly organized by INRAE, EDF and the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR).
This conference focuses on the relationship between living organisms and hydraulic conditions (ecological flows, ecological continuity, sediment management...). It concerns fluvial, estuarine and marine environments.
It brings together an international community of about 300 participants composed of researchers and practitioners.

The H2O'Lyon Graduate School supports this action by financing part of the programme for students (student prizes, invitations and workshops).

► 7th Water & Health Conference / 7-8 Nov. 2019

This 7th Water & Health Conference focuses on drugs and detergents-biocides in water.
The 2-day conference brings together scientists and experts in the field, water managers and their partners, but also health professionals.
This will be an opportunity to :
- restore the knowledge acquired since 2010 in SIPIBEL and other research,
- to extend to feedback about experience,
- discuss about research prospects and for future action.

► NOVATECH / 1-5 July 2019

Novatech gestion intégrée et durable de l'eau dans la ville rejets urbains temps de pluie

NOVATECH is a meeting organized every 3 years in Lyon on strategies and solutions for sustainable water management in the city, with a focus on urban stormwater. This 10th edition of the conference, co-organized by Graie, INSA Lyon and Métropole de Lyon, will be held at INSA, on EcoCampus LyonTech la Doua, from July 1st to 5th, 2019.

The H2O'Lyon Graduate School provide support by co-financing the programme.

► SEFA / 24-25 june 2019

SEFA is an annual scientific conference. It brings together researchers, engineers, project managers (public or private) and students during two days.
It aims to share new knowledge in ecotoxicology and to address emerging issues related to the ecological risk assessment of anthropogenic or natural chemicals in complex systems.

The H2O'Lyon Graduate School supports this conference by co-financing the programme.

Summer/Winter School

► PREDITOX SCHOOL / 5-9 July 2021

In anticipation of what could happen with the sanitary context, as well as to allow international scientists to follow the summer school, we have planned an exclusively virtual session in combination with participants on site. Please note, however, that this virtual attendance will not allow for participation in the 'expertise' slots at the end of each day; there are only for those who will be in person on site.

H2O'Lyon supports this summer school by financing the registration of its students.

► ECO-CAMPUS SUMMER SCHOOL ON INFILTRATION PROCESSES / Summer 2021

Eco-campus Summer school on infiltration processes: smart metrology, data processing and web modeling tools.

Stormwater management by means of infiltration structures such as water sensitive urban design (WSUD) is widely implemented around the world. The understanding of mechanisms related to infiltration represents a great interest for researchers and students involved in research activities or training in line with stormwater management. The new research team Reseed, gathering researchers from INSA Lyon DEEP and IRSTEA Reversal (INRAE on January 2020), in the framework of OTHU, would like to lead a summer school on this topic. This project-based learning workshop will bring new insights regarding smart metrology, data science and web tools for modeling purposes.

H2O'Lyon supports this summer school by funding part of the programme for students.

Upcoming schedule.

► INSTITUT BEAUMONT / Postponed to June 2022 (week before or after I.S. Rivers)

The Institut Beaumont shortcourse is an international course on Fluvial-Geomorphic & Ecological Tools for River Restoration.
It consists of lectures, field trips, and discussions backed by references on river processes and methods of measurement and analysis in fluvial geomorphology, ecology, and restoration planning.
The course is suitable for students and practitioners with interests in river restoration.

H2O'Lyon supports the Institut Beaumont shortcourse by funding 4 student registrations selected upon application.

► PREDITOX 6-10 Jan. 2020

The winter school aims to help ecotoxicologists, regulators, managers, NGOs and other stakeholders to improve their skills on modeling and on statistical inference, especially for a better analysis of experimental data from their biological tests.

Registration before October 15th, 2019

► DOCTORIALES SCIENCES SOCIALES DE L'EAU 5-6 Sept. 2019

For their fourth edition, the Doctoriales en Sciences Sociales de l’Eau will be held at ENS Lyon. This international event will bring together doctoral students regardless of their year of enrollment and young researchers who have recently defended a thesis in social or human sciences.

H2O'Lyon supports this action by co-financing the programme.

Innovative Course

► LA FOLIE KILOMETRE - (UNE NUIT)

La Folie Kilomètre is a collective of creation in public space founded in 2011. Their project (Une Nuit), created in 2018 and selected by the "Culture of Risk" call for projects of the Rhône Plan, invites spectators in 5 cities of the Lyon basin to live a whole night between reality and fiction in a gymnasium fitted out as an emergency accommodation centre invested by various crisis management services.

- 22-23 February 2019 // Arles
- 02 March 2019 // Salaise-sur-Sanne
- 22-23 March 2019 // Chalon-sur-Saône
- 29-30 March 2019 // Villeurbanne
- 12-13 April 2019 // Valence

H2O'Lyon is supporting this project by funding part of the scientific monitoring, the aim of which is to determine the arrangements of this innovative approach and the possible effects on the perceptions of the river and flood risk. This experience feedback will thus be able to feed the training courses that address environmental education issues.
